Making Kid Time Count: Excellent Parenting Resource & Give Away!!!

Sure, sure, one of the primary purposes of this blog is to joke about my general parenting incompetence and frustrations.  Yet, for all the joking, I realize that the cognitive, social, and emotional development of my children is serious stuff.

While I don’t obsessively read the latest child development research or “expert” opinions, I’m always eager to get my hands on select well-written books or to learn about specific playtime activities I can easily incorporate into our days.

And. . .when I saw the news that Sarahlynne Davis, EdM had written a book for Lesson Ladder called Making Kid Time Count for Ages 0-3:  The Attentive Parent Advantage, I was VERY keen to get myself a copy.

AHHHHNNNNDDD. . .Then Sarahlynne asked me if I might be willing to review the book.  WHAT?!

I was thrilled.

I’m also thrilled to report THIS BOOK EXCEEDED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS.

Sarahlynne deftly distills and explains scientific data, opinions of child-care “experts,” and conventional parenting wisdom.  Then she clearly describes how ANY parent care develop a strong bond with their child as well as nurture critical cognitive, social, and emotional development.

AND?  She does it all in the kindest, most non-judgmental, common sense fashion.

Her suggested activities are research-based, creative, and best of all – simple.  On several occasions, I literally put the book down so I could immediately try an activity with our son.  He thoroughly enjoyed each one.

You know I don’t often write a product review on this blog, HOWEVER, this book is such an excellent resource for EVERY PARENT, I’m happy to do so.

Making Kid Time count for Ages 0-3:  The Attentive Parent Advantage is also a great resource for Grandparents or Aunts and Uncles who are looking for a better understanding of child development or suggested activities for young children.

I’ve read the book cover to cover once and anticipate referring to it often.  My Husband has asked me to highlight sections he should review.  This book has earned a permanent spot in our very select home parenting resource library.

You NEED this book!

Good news.  I happen to have a spare copy.

Fine-ish print. . .I purchased this book myself.  Lesson Ladder and Sarahlynne graciously offered me a complimentary copy for the review.  However, I REALLY wanted this book and I felt strongly that if I’m asking you to purchase something, I should ALSO be purchasing it.  Plus, publishing can be brutal these days and I wanted to support Sarahlynne’s awesome efforts.  The copy that will be going to one lucky contest winner is provided directly by Lesson Ladder and at no cost to me.  I will receive no other compensation for this post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  You have one week to enter.  Get on it!

Hi Deni, I’ve been reading your blog for a while but I’ve never commented. I do really enjoy it though. My daughter just had her first birthday, same day Teddy was born! Congratulations! This looks like an awesome book, I can’t wait to read it.
