What I Do When I’m Not Here #2

It’s kinda’ lame to start off with a bunch of pictures but we’ve had a busy weekend and I’m rushing to get some things caught up so here’s another installment of “What I Do When I’m Not Here. . .”

1.  The Boy’s Room – FINALLY!  Some serious progress.  We aren’t done but with the shelves installed, things are much more manageable now.  Husband managed to assemble and install all that shelving by himself without serious injury to himself or a bunch of cursing and pouting.  He’s been my hero all weekend!

The light's bad. This room is really difficult to photograph. The light's either too much or too little and it's a tight space.

2.  CAKE!!!!!  I finally polished off the birthday cake. . .and now I’m so lost every afternoon. . .Sure, I bought some stellar ice cream.  Why Edy’s WHY?  Is salted carmel pretzel only a limited edition flavor?!  But ice cream just isn’t the same as cake. . .It’s taking a LOT of will power not to bake another one. . .

CAKE!!!!

3.  The “Tunnel.”  We like to hike around the Avalon area of Patapsco State Park.  It’s woody and pretty shady and often much cooler than our nearby urban haunts.  And?  There’s water.  Mac asks to go there A LOT.  He practically shakes with delight when he knows we are going there.  We all end up a little soggy.  And I’m a bit terrified he’ll get some horrible illness from playing in that water (lawd only knows where it comes from or what it contains) but it’s way better than dragging him to Chuckie Cheese so. . .

After about 3 supremely soggy adventures, we've starting putting him in his swim clothes and wading shoes. . .Mac. . .Not Chris. . .Although, Chris probably should consider as many times as he's gotten soaked. . .

4.  Meeting Frogs at Marshy Point:  I can’t help myself. . .it’s just too cute not to share.  Wretch.  Sorry.

Mac, frog. Frog, Mac.

Mac, frog. Frog, Mac.

Mac greets frog with a tentative toddler finger poke.

Frog wisely makes a hasty exit.

5.  Around the Internets:

Dani slept with her boss.  But just once.

Lori wants Moms to knock it off with the judging already.

Rachel offers some excellent ideas for keeping your toddler/child on task without the drama.

Jane tells us what happened following horrific flooding in her neighborhood and city. . .complete with cute First Responders. . .and an awesome community response.

Shay’s at it again. . .with sex advice you won’t get in Cosmo.

Got an obnoxious dog?  Kim has you covered.

So I think that’s it for now.  I’m still painting and cleaning and moving stuff.  But there’s finally progress.  Who knows?  At this rate, maybe I’ll have time to bake a cake this afternoon?

XOXO to all of you who hung in there while I’ve been an erratic posting flake the past few weeks!

Muh-awwwww to you all! XOXO

      Hi! Thank you!

I’m so sorry I didn’t give you a warning about the link. I’ve just been so busy, I’ve been such a blog slacker. That post was hilarious.

I’ll happily redecorate any thing you’d like. Anytime. . .BUT let’s wait until I have the baby. . .we deserve to share wine and some sushi! 🙂

      XOXO

Thank you! I’ve been avoiding dragging around the “real” camera because it’s kinda heavy and I didn’t want it all sandy and possibly wet but it’s really worth it to have these everyday candid shots on the “good” camera – not just “special” events. I’m pretty sure years from now, we’ll get a lot more pleasure from the silly everyday stuff than we will from “another birthday party” or trip to the zoo. 🙂

First off, the boys’ room is GORGEOUS! Secondly, the last pic of Mac with the frog is the freaking CUTEST. And lastly, THANK YOU for posting my link again! I haven’t been able to keep up with my fave blogs b/c summer has been so busy, so it was awesome to get back to yours today and see this. What a sweet surprise!

Thank you! Thank you! And you are certainly welcome. I’ve completely slacked on my blog reading and commenting too. I ALWAYS intend to comment to let everyone know I’m linking up but I’ve been so busy, I’ve done a poor job. Summer! 🙂
