Reluctant Mother Is An Insensitive Jerk

Well, it’s happened again, the Mommy Bloggers are preparing to riot!

This week’s target?

The ding dong CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch.

I read a little bit about this joker earlier in the week.  Although, admittedly not enough to make an informed argument about the “controversy.”

I do believe what he said was gross and came across as extremely callous and insensitive.  I don’t agree with his comments.  I think he’s kinda’ creepy in general.  And I definitely have reservations about his ethics.

And yet. . .

Isn’t all “branding” or “marketing” geared towards certain demographics?

I mean, I found this the other evening in a magazine:

Because obviously I’m an insensitive jerk too.

OMG, I am DYING at that ad! HILARIOUS!

Oh, and as much as the A&F thing is ridiculous, should we really be upset we can’t wear their clothes?? 😉

Shit. When I said, “we”, I didn’t mean “you and me”. I just meant “women, moms, us”. You knew that, right?

    I need a glass of wine…

I gotcha! I’m certain I can’t wear their clothes. Nor would I want to. . .probably not even in High School would I have wanted to. . .I was constantly looking for stuff that DID NOT make me look like every one else. Kids!

I hope you got some wine. Sounds like you needed it!

  5. I need that computer!!! And yes, I agree with you- that’s the whole purpose of marketing, and I’m at a loss on how to balance it with sensitivity & equal opportunity.

My Mother in Law told me yesterday she has seen that ad and is offended by it. Ooops. I’m always in trouble with someone.
